Daniel Scherer is an early career academic cardiologist with an interest in cardiac imaging and preventive cardiology. He completed his medical and cardiology training at the Royal Adelaide Hospital before undertaking PhD studies focusing on imaging of atherosclerosis and vulnerable plaques at the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute, funded by the prestigious A.R. Clarkson scholarship. During his time as a research fellow in the Atherosclerosis Imaging Core Laboratory he was involved in multiple international multi-centre trials and coauthored publications in the European Heart Journal, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, and JAMA: Cardiology.
Following his PhD studies he undertook fellowships in echocardiography at St. Vincent's Hospital, and cardiac magnetic resonance and computed tomography coronary angiography at The Alfred in Melbourne.
Daniel is currently a consultant cardiologist at Royal Adelaide Hospital where he is the head of echocardiography.
