Dr. Maria Borrell is a Senior I3P investigator in the ICCC Cardiovascular Program of the Institut de Recerca of Sant Pau Hospital in Barcelona where she leads a project based in the protective cardiovascular effects of the canonical Wnt pathway. Prior appointments include a postdoctoral position at the Curie Institute (France) which ended in a Phase II clinical trial in HD French patients. Dr. Borrell’s expertise is supported by high-impact original articles, book chapters and reviews. These results have lead to the concession of projects financed by both, government and industry. She is also a Patient Advocate for Rare Diseases in the European Community funded PARADIGM (Patients Active in Research and Dialogues for an Improved Generation of Medicines). Besides science, what she also loves is spending time with her family, listening to live music and intense, exhausting sports.
