Professor Maria R Bonsignore

Graduated in Medicine in 1979. Specialist in Cardiology (1982), and Respiratory Medicine (1988). ERS Young Investigator Award in 1991. 1990-2002: Researcher at the National Council of Research (CNR), Italy. Since 2002, Associate Professor of Respiratory Medicine, University of Palermo. 2017: National certification for Full Professor in Respiratory Medicine. Her main research fields are sleep apnea, respiratory failure and exercise. Has contributed to establish the European Sleep Apnea Database (ESADA) project. In the years 2014-2017, was Head of Assembly 4 of the European Respiratory Society on Clinical Physiology, Sleep and Pulmonary Circulation. Is Chair of the joint ERS-ESRS Sleep and Breathing conference. Received the Sadoul Lecture award at the ERS Congress 2020. Chair of the ERS Task Force on obstructive sleep apnea and sleepiness at the wheel. Has published over 150 full papers (PubMed).
