With 40 years of professional experience in Portugal and the US, António Vaz Carneiro is a Medical Doctor holding specialist degrees in Internal Medicine, Nephrology and Clinical Pharmacology. He is also a Full Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Lisbon (FMUL) where he directs the Center for Evidence Based Medicine, the Institute of Preventive Medicine and Public Health and the Institute for Environmental Health, having several other educational and scientific responsibilities in the FMUL. He is a Clinical Researcher with special interest in the areas of secondary research (systematic reviews and meta-analyses), methodologies of translation of knowledge into practice and systems to support clinical, administration / management, health policy decision-making and to increase health literacy of citizens. Prof. Vaz Carneiro is the Head of Cochrane Portugal.
