Biography
Dr Maiy H. El Sayed , MD is a professor and former head of the cardiology department at Ain Shams University , Cairo Egypt , she specializes in interventions in Congenital heart disease both pediatric and adults . Worked as a consultant interventional cardiologist Magdy Yacoub foundation 2009-2020
She was appointed as a Professor in 2000 and head of department 2014-2020, she founded a specialized unit for congenital cardiac interventions in 1996, she received her training at the Brompton Hospital UK in 1989 under the supervision of Dr Elliot Shinebourn where she completed her MD thesis and obtained her MD degree in Cardiology in 1990.
She was the first to introduce transcatheter defect closure in Egypt and did the first PDA closure in 1996. She is a founding member and currently the president of the Egyptian working group of pediatric cardiology, founding member and vice president of PACHDA and Director of the Egyptian fellowship program of Pediatric and congenital Cardiology
