Doctor Luca Sala

He did a PhD in Molecular and Translational Medicine from the University of Milano - Bicocca in Antonio Zaza's lab. He moved to The Netherlands for a postdoc in Christine Mummery's lab to expand his knowledge on human stem cell-based models of cardiovascular disesase. He moved back to Italy in Peter J Schwartz's lab with a Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellowship, and since 2022 he is Assistant Professor at the University of Milano - Bicocca, Italy and affiliated researcher at Istituto Auxologico Italiano IRCCS. His research activity focuses on human-based experimental models of cardiac arrhythmias. His research goal is to develop and use advanced experimental models, based on human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs), to investigate the functional implications of genetic variants associated with abnormal electrocardiographic traits in patients to identify new disease mechanisms, develop new technologies and test drugs to ultimately translate in vivo. He loves hiking in the Alps.
