Ernesto L. Schiffrin, C.M., MD, PhD, FRSC, FRCPC, FACP, FAHA, is Physician-in-Chief Emeritus, Jewish General Hospital, Director, Hypertension and Vascular Research Unit, Lady Davis Institute, and Distinguished James McGill Professor and former Vice-Chair, Department of Medicine, McGill University. His research addresses molecular mechanisms and treatment of hypertension. He is author of 643 peer-reviewed publications. He was President, Canadian Hypertension Society (1991–92); Chair, Council on Hypertension, American Heart Association (2002–04); President, International Society of Hypertension (2012–14); President, Hypertension Canada (2013-2016). He has reveived among other of the Irvine Page-Alva Bradley Lifetime Achievement Award, Hypertension Council, AHA (2007); Bjorn Folkow Award, European Society Hypertension (2010); Order of Canada (2010); Excellence Award in Hypertension Research, AHA (2011), Franz Volhard Award, Intl. Soc. Hyperten. (2021), Distinguished Scientist, AHA (2021).
