Biography
Lars Gullestad, born in 1951, is currently professor at department of Cardiology, Oslo University Hospital, Rikshospitalet. He graduated from the University of Trondheim in 1978. Since then has worked mainly at Bærum hospital and the Rikshospitalet (now Oslo University Hospital) only interrupted by research stays at the National Labor Environment Institute. He became a specialist in internal medicine in 1992 and cardiology in 1996. He obtained a doctorate in 1993 on the subject of "β-blockade and exercise performance in healthy subjects". A post-doc fellowship period was spent at Stanford University in 1994-96 where he gained insight into molecular cardiology. He has participated in several multicenter studies, and has been principal investigator in Norway for several international multi center studies.
