Professor/cardiologist John Munkhaugen (b.1983) is FESC, national Coordinator of the EAPC and was Young Ambassador from 2021-24. He is regular contributor to ESC/EAPC congresses, co-authored the ESC textbook in Smoking, is leader of Norwegian Society of Cardiology group in preventive cardiology, and is Editor on national CR guidelines. Munkhaugen established NORCOR, a translational prevention and behavioural cardiology programme, spanning mechanistic studies, registries, randomised trials, and implementation projects. He has redefined beta-blockers post-MI through the BETAMI–DANBLOCK programme, developed plasma-based assays for statin adherence assessment, pioneered molecular characterisation of statin intolerance, and led trials of behavioural and psychological interventions for smoking cessation, anxiety/depression and insomnia. He is first/last author on multiple publications in the NEJM, Lancet, EHJ, and leading pharmacology journals, and has supervised 24 PhD/postdoctoral fellows
