MD, PhD John Munkhaugen (b. 1983) is a specialist in internal medicine and in cardiology and is Head of Research at the Department of medicine at Drammen hospital. He is also professor in behavioral medicine at the University of Oslo. He has been a researcher in preventive cardiology since 2012. Main research areas include general and preventive cardiology including atherosclerosis, CHD, behavioral sciences in medicine, sleep, depression, heart failure, and clinical and molecular statin pharmacology. He is leader of the large, interdisciplinary NORCOR research group (www.norcor.no) which includes 10 ongoing PhD students, three post-doctoral researchers and approximately 20 senior researchers and collaborators. He is co-chair of the BETAMI trial (www.betami.org).
He is married and father of three children.
