Professor Joseph Alpert

Dr. Alpert is a graduate of Yale and Harvard Universities. He trained and was on faculty at the Brigham and Women's Hospital, Chief of Cardiology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, and Chief of Medicine at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson, Arizona. He is the Editor in Chief of The American Journal of Medicine (the green journal). He has lectured widely in the United States and throughout the world. He has published over one thousand peer reviewed articles, editorials, commentaries, reviews, and books. He is currently Vice-Chairman for faculty promotion and tenure in the Department of Medicine where he is a tenured professor of medicine. He is married to Qin Mary Chen, PhD, a tenured professor of pharmacogenomics at the University of Arizona in Tucson. He has two adult children, Eva, a tax attorney and accountant and Niels, a director of photography in the US television industry. He is fluent in Danish and has moderate ability in Spanish.
