Doctor Charles Githii Kamotho

The International Clinic, Nairobi (Kenya)

Dr. Kamotho is a practicing Consultant Physician from Kenya. He is also an entrepreneur in digital health technology to better manage hypertension, the most important cardiovascular disease risk factor in Kenya. Dr. Kamotho studied medicine on scholarship at the University of Navarre, Spain, and returned to Kenya for his internship at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), Nairobi. He then obtained a postgraduate diploma at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in 2000 before going back to KNH for his Residency in Internal Medicine. In 2007 he was selected to train in Cardiology in Osaka, Japan, on a JICA scholarship. Later he attended Strathmore Business School’s Managing Healthcare Businesses (MHB) Executive Program, where he was elected the 2017 Class President. Over the years Dr. Kamotho has worked as a Government physician, has lectured medicine, and has practiced medicine in the private sector. He has received numerous awards including a National Innovation Award.

Telemedicine is an effective way to manage cardiovascular disease in rural Kenya and to achieve universal healthcare.
