Prof. Gaetano A. Lanza, MD, was born in Villapiana (Calabria, Italy) on November 21, 1955. He graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the Sapienza University of Rome, Italy, in 1980, and became a specialist in Cardiology at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Rome, Italy, in 1984. He is Associate Professor of Cardiology at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Rome, Italy. He is an expert in electrocardiology and heads the section of Non Invasive Diagnostic Cardiology of the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Fondazione Policlinico Universitario A. Gemelli IRCCS, Rome, Italy. He is fellow of the European Society of Cardiology since 1994. He has interest in several research fields, concerning the pathophysiology and clinical aspects of ischemic heart disease, in particular coronary microcirculation and coronary artery spasm, but also electrocardiography, cardiac autonomic function, arrhythmias and endothelial function.
