After obtaining her M.D. degree in 2008 (Japan) and spending 2 years as a clinical trainee in Kitasato University hospital (Tokyo, Japan), Dr Kitasato decided to study molecular biology of cardiac remodeling and earned her Ph.D in March 2015 (Kitasato University, graduate School of medical sciences), that included 1 year at IARC (Lyon, France) as a French government scholar. She went back to Japan from April 2015 to Yamato Municipal Hospital as a cardiologist, until her first postdoctoral training in Institut Pasteur (Paris, France) in October 2015. She worked there on a research project analyzing cardiomyocyte proliferation. She obtained the ESC research grant in 2018 and she is currently working in Faculté des Sciences de Sorbonne Université (Paris, France) to pursue her interest for both molecular biology and medical research, especially for developing applications in cell therapy in heart failure.
