Doctor Jussi Tapani Koivumaeki

Tampere University, Tampere (Finland)

Dr. Jussi T. Koivumäki is University Lecturer of BME at Tampere University and an adjunct professor at University of Eastern Finland. He has done postdoctoral training at the A.I. Virtanen Institute of Molecular Sciences, University of Eastern Finland, Simula Research Laboratory, Norway, and Tampere University, Finland. Dr Koivumäki has a longstanding interest in employing computational models of cardiac myocytes and tissue, to study the 1) cellular triggers and substrates that cause and maintain arrhythmias, 2) pathomechanisms related to cardiac contractile (dys-)function, and 3) effect of cellular signalling on excitation-contraction coupling. During recent years, he has focused on elucidating the cellular disease mechanisms of atrial fibrillation and the immature characteristics of human iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes.
