Sverre E. Kjeldsen is Professor Emeritus and Chief Physician (retired) at the Department of Cardiology, Oslo University Hospital Ullevaal, Oslo, Norway and Past Adjunct Professor at the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA. His main research interest is the pathophysiology, epidemiology and treatment of human hypertension with about 700 peer reviewed articles available on Pubmed and H-index of 81. He has served as executive or steering committee member of several large outcome trials in hypertension (HOT, NORDIL, INSIGHT, LIFE, VALUE, ASCOT, ACCOMPLISH, SCAST) and he is currently working on Oslo Ischemia Study, IDA, Oslo RDN, BEAUTY and VALUE extension. Dr. Kjeldsen was President of the European Society of Hypertension 2005-2007 and a member of the 2003, 2007, 2013 and 2018 ESC/ESH Hypertension Guidelines Committees. He received the Alberto Zanchetti Life Time Achievement Award in 2018 and was ranked by Thomson Reuter in 2014 and 2016.
