Doctor Matthew Ryan

Dr Ryan received his medical degree from the University of Leeds in 2010. He commenced an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship at King's in 2014. In 2018 he was awarded a British Heart Foundation Clinical Research Training Fellowship to investigate novel measures of myocardial viability during cardiac catheterisation and was an investigator on the REVIVED-BCIS2 randomised trial. Following completion of his fellowship, he continued as a Clinical Lecturer with funding from the National Institute for Health Research in the UK, via the CHIP-BCIS3 trial and National Institute for Health in the USA. In 2024 he was appointed Clinical Senior Lecturer and Honorary Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at King's College London and St Thomas' Hospital, London. His interests are in the role of ischaemia in the pathogenesis and progression of heart failure, coronary revascularisation for heart failure and mechanical circulatory support for cardiogenic shock and high-risk PCI.
