Biography
JOAO MORAIS,1954, cardiologist (1988), head of the Cardiology Division of Leiria Hospital Centre (Portugal) since 2001, and professor in Oporto Medical School
A particular interest was developed with the field of acute coronary syndromes in special with the topic of reperfusion strategies. Thrombosis and antithrombotics as well as heart failure, are also interest fields
Within the last 20 years he was deeply involved with the Portuguese Society of Cardiology ( President 2017-2019) and President of the National Congress (2007).
JM is currently member of the Nominating Committee of ESC. He was member of the Committee for Practice Guidelines (2004-8), member of the Nucleus of the Working Group on Thrombosis for more than 10 years ( chair 2016-2018)
More than 350 abstracts were presented; 135 manuscripts were published in peer review journals; more than 500 presentations by invitation
JM was awarded by the mayor of Leiria by high health services provided to the local community
