Doctor Lisa Pennells

Lisa is a Senior Research Associate in the BHF Cardiovascular Epidemiology Unit (CEU) at the University of Cambridge. She initially studied Physiology at the University of Leeds before obtaining an MSc in Medical Statistics from Lancaster University and beginning her research career in the CEU in 2005 where she also completed her PhD in 2011. The focus of Lisa’s research is cardiovascular disease risk prediction. Her primary interest is in harnessing latest understanding of CVD epidemiology, bio-statistical advances, risk modelling innovations and screening strategy developments, to improve CVD risk estimation and prevention of cardiovascular disease. Lisa has served on expert panels/working groups for the World Health Organisation and European Society of Cardiology, concentrating research on providing and recalibrating CVD risk scores for use across multiple countries.
