Biography
Prof Filippatos is Director of the HF Unit at the Attikon University Hospital, Athens, GR. He studied Medicine at the University of Patras, and earned his doctorate Cum Laude from the University of Athens. He completed his clinical training in Chicago, USA; and Cambridge, UK. Past President of the HFA, past Dean of the Medical School, University of Cypus. He has served the ESC Practice Guidelines Committee and the ACC/AHA HF Guidelines Writing Committee and as ACCP International Governor. He is Senior Consulting Editor for JACC-HF. He has published over 500 peer-reviewed papers and >30 book chapters including AHF in Braunwald. He has co-edited 5 books including the ESC Textbook of Acute and Intensive Cardiac Care, Highly Commended in the BMA Medical Book Awards, and the books “HF: The Expert’s Approach” and “Treatment Algorithms in HF”. He is in the Thomson Reuters list of Highly Cited Researchers. Honorary Member of many Cardiac Societies.
