Dan Atar holds a full professorship in Cardiology at the University of Oslo, Norway, as well as a Visiting Associate Professorship at The Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD, USA. He has written over 480 research articles (H-factor 78) and appeared since 2016 on the Thompson-Reuters list over "The most cited researchers of the World". Dan Atar has been elected councillor of the ESC, and elected Vice-President of the ESC in the 2014-2018 term, responsible for National Affairs. He subsequently served as elected Secretary/Treasurer of the ESC Board (2018-2020). During the last period, he was a member of the ESC Membership Task Force. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the journal "Cardiology" (Karger). He has received a FP-7 EU grant, a partner-grant Horizon2020 (years 2019 - 2023), and holds an academic "Doctor honoris causa" title.
