Biography
Petr Widimsky is cardiologist working at the University Hospital "Kralovske Vinohrady" in Prague, Czech Republic as head of the Cardiocenter (large academic center with cardiology and cardiac surgery departments). His main professional interests are interventional cardiology, acute coronary syndromes, acute ischemic stroke and antithrombotic treatments. He is the founder and leader of the "PRAGUE Study Group" - informal academic community of Czech cardiologists cooperating on the series of randomized investigator-initiated trials. Since 2018 he is the Dean of the Third Faculty of Medicine, Charles University, Prague. Between 2004-18 he had numerous roles within the European Society of Cardiology up to the vice-president position and in 2008 he was one of the three candidates for the ESC president position. He founded Stent for Life in 2008 and Council on Stroke in 2016. He published over 600 papers, his SCI is over 50000 and H-index 98.
