Catherine Otto is Professor of Medicine and the J. Ward Kennedy-Hamilton Endowed Chair in Cardiology at the University of Washington (UW) School of Medicine in Seattle, Washington, USA. She is the Editor-in-Chief of Heart, the official journal of the British Cardiovascular Society. At the UW, she currently is Director of the Heart Valve and Aortic Disease Clinic, with an active clinical practice. She received for the 2011 American College of Cardiology Distinguished Scientist Award (Clinical Domain) for her research on calcific aortic valve disease. In addition, Dr. Otto is the author of the Textbook of Clinical Echocardiography (6th Edition, 2018) and is editor of The Practice of Clinical Echocardiography (6th Edition, 2022), Atlas of Intraoperative Echocardiography (with Don Oxorn, 2nd Edition, 2018), and Valvular Heart Disease (with Bob Bonow, 5th ed. 2019). She was co-chair of the 2020 ACC/AHA Guidelines For Management of Adults With Valvular Heart Disease.
