Biography
Full Professor of Cardiology at Federico II University (Naples, Italy), Prof. Perrino coordinates the Laboratory of Molecular Cardiology and leads an integrated portfolio of clinical, basic, and translational research projects in cardiovascular disease. Her research focuses on the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying cardiovascular disease, with particular interest on metabolic remodeling, energy homeostasis, inflammation, and mitochondrial dysfunction in heart failure. Within this framework, she investigates how systemic alterations shape cardiac structure and function across disease stages. Her work also addresses emerging modifiers of cardiovascular disease, including gut–heart crosstalk and sex- and gender-related differences, and integrates multi-omics profiling, including genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics, to identify disease endotypes, uncover novel mechanistic pathways, and enable more precise approaches to cardiovascular disease.
