Biography
Dr Akao is the Director and Chief at Department of Cardiology, National Hospital Organization Kyoto Medical Center (Kyoto Japan).
He is also a Clinical Professor at Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine and a board member of the Japanese Society of Internal Medicine, the Japanese Circulation Society, and Japanese Heart Rhythm Society.
His research interests include epidemiology and medical management of atrial fibrillation (AF), and pharmacology of oral anticoagulant drugs.
He is principal investigator of the Fushimi AF registry, a community-based prospective observational survey of Japanese patients with AF, and a co-investigator of ELDERCARE-AF trial, AFIRE trial and ANAFIE registry.
