Dr David Sim is senior consultant with the department of cardiology, director of the heart failure programme and director of the clinical trial research office at the National Heart Centre Singapore (NHCS) with active role as National coordinator for a few key global heart failure trials. He is associate professor at Duke National University of Singapore Graduate Medical School and the current president of the Heart Failure Society (Singapore). His sub-specialty interest is in heart failure, mechanical circulatory support, and heart transplantation. He is a member of the committee for adult heart transplant programme in NHCS. Dr Sim has also interest in palliative care for advance heart failure and is the project director for the advanced care planning programme in the NHCS. In the Asia Pacific region, Dr Sim plays an active role with the setting up of heart failure programme in countries like Mongolia and Vietnam.
