Professor Richard Body

Rick Body is a Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Manchester. He works as an Honorary Consultant and Group Director of Research & Innovation at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, which includes ten hospitals and two major trauma centres. Professor Body is Deputy National Specialty Lead for Trauma & Emergency Care at the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Clnical Research Network, Deputy Editor at the Emergency Medicine Journal, Industry Lead for the Manchester NIHR Biomedical Research Centre and a member of the International Federation for Clinical Chemistry Committee for Clinical Applications of Cardiac Biomarkers. His main area of research interest is in diagnostics, particularly applied to acute coronary syndromes. He has developed and validated several early rule-out pathways for acute myocardial infarction that are in widespread practice.
