Originally from Portugal, I went to medical school at Coimbra University and trained in Cardiology at the Coimbra University Hospital Centre. In 2014 I moved to London to train in Intensive Care Medicine with sub-specialization in Advanced Heart Failure, Mechanical Circulatory Support and Echocardiography in Critical Care. I have trained in the largest cardiothoracic and VV-ECMO centres in the UK (Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospital and Royal Papworth Hospital). I have acquired an extensive knowledge in the assessment and management of patients with cardiogenic shock (including GUCH), after complex cardiac surgery and those supported by different types of mechanical circulatory support. I am the first author of 9 and co-author of 15 papers published in peer reviewed journals. I am a member of The Cochrane Heart Group Editorial Board. I have completed the Oxford Women’s Leadership Development Programme from the Said Business School at the University of Oxford.
