Diane L. Carroll, PhD, RN, FESC, FAHA, FAAN is a nurse scientist in the Munn Center for Nursing Research at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, USA. Dr. Carroll previously was a Cardiovascular Clinical Nurse Specialist for 16 years, and a research nurse and staff nurse for cardiac surgery. Dr. Carroll maintained programs of research in cardiovascular nursing. She was co-investigator on a clinical trial funded by NINR on a social support intervention for unpartnered older adults after a cardiovascular event, and was principal investigator on series of studies with patients with ICD implants that were funded by Sigma Theta Tau International. She has over 100 publications in peer-reviewed journals, 5 book chapters, and has presented her research at a number of regional, national and international research conferences. In addition, to her own programs of research she has mentored 14 staff nurse research studies and these studies have been published.
