Dr. Yih-Jer Wu received his M.D. degree from China Medical University (Taiwan) in 1992, followed by his M.Sc. degree from the Institute of Traditional Medicine, National Yang-Ming University (Taiwan) in 1994. He was promoted to consultant cardiologist in 1999 after finishing his resident and fellowship training for internal medicine and cardiovascular medicine at MacKay Memorial Hospital (Taipei, Taiwan). To further pursue the research in molecular vascular biology, he went to Bristol Heart Institute, University of Bristol (UK) in 2003 and then finished his Ph.D. work in 2006. His subsequent research interests have been focused on the mechanisms of smooth muscle cell proliferation, endothelial cell progenitor cell functions and senescence. His clinical service and related research have been switched to pulmonary hypertension since 2013. He is currently the Dean, Department of Medicine, MacKay Medical College, and has published over 70 scientific papers in many prestigious journals.
