Biography
I am a Professor in the Department of Cardiac Sciences, and Medicine, and Senior Visiting Scientis at the Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Cardiovasculares (CNIC) in Madrid, Spain. My main research interests are related with the development of clinical trials in the area of cardiac arrhythmias AF ablation, screening and detection of AF in varied populations, syncope and treatment of Chagas Disease. Similarly, I have made some contributions in Cardiac autonomic regulation and have published over 350 peer-reviewed manuscripts. I have been directly involved with the design, conduct, reporting and publishing of several seminal trials that have changed practice related with detection of subclinical atrial fibrillation such as the ASSERT and CRYSTAL-AF trials, Management of Chagas disease BENEFIT, STOP-CHAGAS, AF Ablation RAAFT-2, STAR-AF I-III, EARLY-AF, and syncope POST trials, SPAIN trial.
