Biography
Dr. Roselien Buys is a postdoctoral researcher and EU project manager in the field of cardiovascular exercise physiology and cardiac rehabilitation working at the University of Leuven, Belgium, where she obtained her PhD in 2012.
She is passionate about sports and exercise in children and adults with (congenital) heart disease and about the immense potential of evolving technologies for personalised and more effective cardiac rehabilitation strategies. She was one of the primary investigators of the PATHway I trial investigating a complex technology-enabled cardiac rehabilitation system for use in the home environment.
Dr. Roselien Buys received funding from Research Foundation Flanders (FWO (Belgium), Fund for Cardiac Surgery, Erasmus (EU) and Horizon2020 (EU). She has published more than 50 international peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, has delivered numerous invited lectures and is currently promotor of 3 ongoing doctoral projects and was promotor of 1 successful PhD.
