Graduated from USP Medical School - São Paulo (1976) and PhD in Cardiology from USP (1989). He is currently an associate professor of cardiology at USP (since 2002) and director of the InCor Chronic Coronary Disease Unit. He is a member of the department board (2012-) and the document evaluation committee of the cardiopneumology department. Member of the postgraduate committee of the cardiology discipline of the USP School of Medicine (2010-). Co-coordinates the College's 2nd year Cardiovascular Physiology Discipline (Medicine Course) and serves as a teacher in other 2th, 3rd and 4th years disciplines of the Faculty. He was president of the Society of Cardiology of the State of São Paulo (SOCESP) - Regional of the Brazilian Society of Cardiology (2010-11).
