Dr Richard Ng graduated in 1970 from University of Singapore and trained in internal medicine and cardiology in Singapore, London National Heart Hospital (1975-1977) and at Cedar Sinai Medical Centre, Los Angeles (1977-1978). He was senior lecturer at University of Singapore in 1978. Started private cardiology practice at Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre in 1980 and started PTCA (PCI) in 1984, and organised first LIVE Course in 1990 at Mount Elizabeth Hospital. He has been elected President of Singapore Cardiac Society for 11 terms and President of AFC (ASEAN Federation of Cardiology) for 2 terms, including its first elected inaugural president for the 10 countries in 2016-2018. Keen supporter of regional collaboration in lectures, congresses and meetings in all aspects of cardiology especially interventional cardiology. Founded the ASEAN College of Cardiology in 2012, and Chien Charity Foundation in 1955. Promoted formation of ESC-Asia with Michel Komajda and Jeroen Bax.
