Virginia Layton, RDCS, BSc, MD (c. 2027), is a Canadian medical student at the University of Alberta and practicing echocardiographer since 2008. She has managed rural and urban echo clinics, and trained physicians in the use of echo internationally. Her current focus is cardiac imaging research, contributing to data interpretation and manuscript development aimed at improving non-invasive detection and prognostication of amyloidosis with Dr. Nicolas Benoit. She is also passionate about point-of-care ultrasound education and leads student initiatives that support PoCUS integration across medical specialties. Outside of medicine, Virginia enjoys collecting rare plants and draws inspiration from natural systems to inform her scientific and clinical perspective.
