Yolande Appelman, associate professor, interventional cardiologist at Amsterdam UMC, The Netherlands. Interventional cardiologist with research focus on sex-gender differences in coronary artery disease and microvascular disease. In the Netherlands she is one of the ambassadors on gender and cardiovascular disease and well known in the national public media. Author of 130 peer reviewed publications. Co-author of the book: “The female Heart: cardiovascular risk management in women” (2017). Initiator and first chair of: Working group on Gender of the Dutch Society of Cardiology (2008-2013) and Thinktank of Gender&Health VUmc. Obtained various research grants on gender and cardiovascular disease, supervising PhD students and PI-coPI of several trials. Professional memberships: past member Steering Committee EAPCI Women Committee and chair of Education and Training, Editorial board of the EHJ and EuroIntervention, Frontiers in CV Medicine on Gender. Member of the Lancet and CVD Commission.
