Biography
Paolo Raggi is a Professor of Medicine and Cardiology at the University of Alberta. During his career, he was involved in research on atherosclerosis imaging, vascular calcification, lipid metabolism, cardiovascular disease associated with chronic kidney disease, rheumatological disorders, HIV infection, diabetes mellitus, the metabolic syndrome and the impact of mental health disorders on coronary artery disease. He has contributed ~450 peer-reviewed publications and ~40 book chapters and books on cardiovascular imaging and prevention. Dr. Raggi has received numerous awards as best teaching attending and best clinical investigator nationally and internationally. He serves as a consultant for 30 scientific medical publications, he is Co-Editor in Chief of Atherosclerosis, and sits on the Board of 3 peer-reviewed medical journals. In 2017 he was named by the President of Italy Knight of the Order of Stars, the highest honour for an Italian citizen.
