Biography
Prof. Hanna Tolonen is the Deputy Director General of Research, Development and Innovation at the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) and Associated Professor (Docent) of public Health at the University of Eastern Finland. She holds a PhD in public health and epidemiology and an MSc in Statistics, complemented by a specialist qualification in management. Over three decades, she has lead national and European initiatives on health examination surveys, health information systems, and monitoring and prevention of non-communicable diseases, especially cardiovascular diseases. Her research focuses on harmonization and standardization of population health surveys, non-response bias, comparability of indicators, and the validity of health registers.
