Professor Qing Kenneth Wang

Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan (China)

Member of:

European Heart Rythm Association

Dr. Wang is an outstanding scientist who has published more than 300 scientific papers. He is a pioneer in the field of genetics of cardiac arrhythmias and sudden death. He discovered the first gene for Brugada syndrome, the first gene SCN5A and most common gene KCNQ1 for long QT syndrome, and >20 other genes for cardiac arrhythmias, long QT syndrome, Brugada syndrome, ventricular arrhythmias, atrial fibrillation, coronary artery disease, myocardial infarction, hypertension, and neurological diseases. Dr. Wang's gene discoveries have revolutionized the precision diagnosis and precision treatment of cardiovascular diseases, and provided the foundation for the first genetic test in cardiovascular medicine. He developed the first innovative gene therapy for Brugada syndrome, and transformed basic genetic findings on rare disease KTS and AGGF1 to innovative treatments for common heart failure, aortic aneurysms and MI. Liang-Wang syndrome (OMIM #618729) is named after Dr. Wang.
