Professor of Endocrinology, DMedSc, Head of Department of Diabetology, University Hospital of Endocrinology, Sofia; Chair in Endocrinology, Faculty of Medicine; Vice Rector, Medical University of Sofia, Bulgaria. Graduated from Medical University of Sofia (1984). Specialty in Internal Medicine (1992) and Endocrinology (1993). Specialized at WHO Collaborating Center, Geneva; Switzerland; King's College Hospital, London, Oxford, Cambridge, UK; Steno Diabetes Center, Copenhagen, Denmark. Author of over 240 peer-reviewed articles; over 460 presentations at scientific meetings. Member of the writing group of ADA/EASD Consensus report on the management of hyperglycemia in type 2 diabetes, 2022. Invited speaker at EASD postgraduate courses. Secretary of Bulgarian Society of Endocrinology since 2003. Chair of Expert Committee on Endocrinology at Bulgarian Ministry of Health. Research interests - prediabetes, obesity, metabolic syndrome, prevention and complications of diabetes.
