Associate Professor Albert Wiegman

Albert Wiegman became a paediatric cardiologist and member of the staff at the Amsterdam University Medical Centres. In 1993, the Paediatric-Lipid Department came under his care. For 15 years, he was the Medical Director of the Amsterdam UMC, location AMC. In 2020, he was appointed Associate Professor and Principal Investigator. Over 4,200 children with inherited dyslipidaemias visited his ward. Since 2024, he is an appointed trustee of the Familial Hyperlipidaemia Europe Foundation and a core group member of the Lipoprotein(a) International Taskforce. He is a member of the supervisory board of the Dutch National Expertise Centre for Genetic Testing for Familial Cardiovascular Diseases (LEEFH). Recently, he is declared honorary member of the European Atherosclerosis Society.
