Doctor Aurelie Berthet

Centre for Primary Care and Public Health (Unisante), Lausanne (Switzerland)

Aurélie Berthet is a senior researcher at Center for Primary Care and Public Health (Unisante). She is carrying out projects in human toxicology and in occupational exposure assessment, including occupational hygiene field studies. She developed an expertise into three main fields: occupational exposure to pesticides, characterization of exposure to tobacco and new tobacco products, and in vitro human skin permeation assays. On the issue of the heated tobacco products (HTP), Aurélie Berthet carries out a research project to characterize several toxic compounds emitted in smoke of three HTP devices (i.e., iQOS, glo, and Ploom Tech) as well as in the passive smoke. In another study, she collaborates with the Institut de Radiophysique of Lausanne University Hospital to quantify the radioactivity in tobacco, including conventional and iQOS cigarettes, and in urine of smokers.
