Jürgen Falkensammer completed his medical degree at the Medical University of Innsbruck, Austria, and specialised in General Surgery and Vascular Surgery at the University Hospital in Innsbruck. Following a one-year research fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, he refined his career as a vascular specialist at the Department of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery at Klinikum Ottakring in Vienna, Austria. He qualified as a Professor of Surgery at the Medical University of Vienna in December 2015. Since March 2022, he is Head of the Department of Vascular Surgery at the Barmherzige Brüder Hospital in Linz, Austria. Jürgen Falkensammer is a Fellow of the European Board of Vascular Surgery and Vice President of the International College of Angiology. His scientific interests include advancements in complex aortic aneurysm repair and implementation of new concepts for surgical education. He has been a faculty member of the Vascular International School for over ten years.
