
Professor Matthias Nahrendorf

Biography
Matthias Nahrendorf is the Richard Moerschner MGB Research Institute Endowed Chair, a Professor for Radiology at Harvard Medical School, a Principal Investigator at the Center for Systems Biology and adjunct Professor of Medicine at the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg. He directs the MGB Center for Inflammation Imaging together with Dr. Peter Libby. His laboratory focuses on the role of immunity and hematopoiesis in cardiovascular disease, specifically in atherosclerosis, heart failure, arrhythmia and stroke. Dr. Nahrendorf is the Editor-in-Chief of JACC: BTS, where he aims to provide the community with fast, fair and friendly reviews. He was the Chair of the 2017 Atherosclerosis Gordon Conference and serves on the NHLBI board of external experts. He published >300 articles with an H-index >120. Dr Nahrendorf received the MGH Research Scholar Prize in 2014, the Basic Research Award of the German Society of Cardiology in 2015 and the MGH Martin Prize in 2019.
