Doctor Lorraine Evangelista

Lorraine S. Evangelista is a Professor and Associate Dean for Research and Scholarship and the Lena Finke Distinguished Chair for Nursing Arts at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas. She completed her baccalaureate training at the University of the Philippines College of Nursing (cum laude) in 1985. She received her master’s and doctoral degree from the UCLA School of Nursing in 1993 and 2000, respectively. She is recognized internationally for her investigation into the care of patients with heart disease and the effects of this disease on the patients and family members. She has over 120 publications on adherence, self-care, quality of life, and health literacy. She received a 2.5 million dollar grant from the NIH to examine the effects of macro-nutrient on delaying the progression of heart failure (2010-2016) and was a co-investigator on a 9.9 million grant to examine the impact of wireless technology on reducing variations in care of patients hospitalized wit
