Professor Martin Rothman

As a clinician Professor Rothman played a leading role in establishing interventional cardiology from 1980, particularly coronary angioplasty and stent implants in the UK. In 1988, cofounded British Cardiovascular Intervention Society (BCIS), national President between 1992 and 1996, Council member for many years, was director of cardiovascular R&D for more than 10 years, and director of the cardiac catheter laboratories 15+ years. He instigated clinical practice changes establishing pathways for heart attack victims, rapid access for patients with unstable angina, and day-case coronary intervention, all of which have gained national and international acceptance. Professor Rothman is widely published with over 200 papers, is the author books on interventional cardiology and has been an invited guest operator at EuroPCR, Paris and TCT, Washington DC and San Francisco, on many occasions. He also has interest in developing new technology as an advisor of inventor.
