Clinical features modifying the cardiovascular benefits of GLP-1 receptor agonists: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Abstract
Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) reduce major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) in patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D), but heterogeneity exists across cardiovascular outcome trials (CVOTs). A comprehensive search of PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library was conducted through November 2024. Eligible CVOTs compared GLP-1 RAs with placebo in T2D patients. The primary outcome was MACE, defined as a composite of cardiovascular death, non-fatal myocardial infarction, and non-fatal stroke.
