Dr. Elisa Di Pasquale, PhD is Tenured Scientist at the Institute of Genetic and Biomedical Research of the National Research Council of Italy in Milan and responsible of the Stem Cell group of the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at the Humanitas Research Hospital in Milan, Italy. She is interested in stem cell biology applied to the cardiovascular field. Within the last 7 years, her research activity has been mainly mainly centred on induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) technology for modelling both acquired and inherited cardiac diseases and for studying human heart development and cardiac differentiation in vitro. She developed iPSC-based models of inherited arrhythmias and primary cardiomyopathies that served as platforms to investigate the cellular and molecular events leading to the diseases and to test the efficacy of new therapeutic treatments. Her ultimate goal is ultimate goal to find better treatments for patients suffering from heart pathologies.
