He earned his PhD in Biochemistry from Justus-Liebig-University Giessen in 2014, receiving “Summa cum laude” honors. He was selected for the DFG-1566 International Graduate Program PROMISE: Protecting the Heart from Ischemia and served as Student Representative (2010-2012) at GGL-Giessen. In 2016, he won the SERVIER-International Society of Heart Research Award and was a finalist for the American Heart Association's Louis N. and Arnold M. Katz Basic Science Research Award in 2014. He received a Singapore Health-Foundation research grant in 2018. In August 2018, he was appointed Head of the FEMSA Biotechnology Centre at Tec de Monterrey, Mexico, and became an Assistant Professor at SingHealth Duke-NUS in 2019. Currently, he is a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology, Professor at the UNAM-UABJO Research Center in Oaxaca, and a Visiting Professor at Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University in Saudi Arabia.
