Professor Frieder Braunschweig

Frieder Braunschweig is the Director of Cardiology at Karolinska University Hospital and a Professor at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden. He received his medical degree from the Ruprecht Karls University in Heidelberg, Germany. His clinical focus areas include invasive electrophysiology, cardiac pacing, heart failure and sports cardiology. In 2002 he completed a Ph.D. thesis on “Devices in Heart Failure” at KI and has since been active in research on CRT, ICD and continuous hemodynamic monitoring. Further research interests include atrial fibrillation, sports cardiology and telemedicine. He has been awarded researcher scholarships by the Stockholm County Council and the Swedish Heart and Lung Foundation and has been investigator and committee member in many clinical trials. Dr Braunschweig has served as the president of the Swedish Society of Cardiology and has held several positions within the ESC and it´s Associations for Heart Rhythm and Heart Failure.
