Biography
Professor Dhiraj Gupta is a consultant cardiologist at the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital (LHCH), which provides a regional electrophysiology (EP) service to a population of 2.8 million. Prof Dr Gupta is a very high-volume operator in interventional EP, and is the trust lead for its Left Atrial Appendage Occluder (LAAO) Service. He proctors cardiologists nationally and internationally for LAAO implants.
Prof Dr Gupta heads the arrhythmia work group of the Institute of Cardiovascular Medicine and Science, a research collaboration between Royal Brompton Hospital and LHCH. He is the Chief Investigator for several AF ablation trials (PRESSURE, SMANPAF, PRAISE, VISTAX, CRAFT), and has been successful in obtaining over £3.5 million in competitive research grants from NIHR, BHF and industry.
Prof Dr Gupta was awarded the UK national Bronze Clinical Excellence Award in 2017 and Silver Clinical Excellence Award in 2021.
